WIP: DYNAMIC DUO OF THE OZARKS

A work-in-progress by Jeff Boggs

An excerpt from Chapter 17 of THE DYNAMIC DUO OF THE OZARKS.

“A Sonovox voice, supposedly of Martian nationality, sang over a Theremin and electronic music background, “THE COOLEST RADIO STATION IN THE GALAXY IS K-I-DOUBLE-L IN SPRINGVILLE!” Lovable Lance pushed the lever on the turntable, which started playing 45 of a girl with a high voice and noticeably Southern accent singing a song called “Don’t Drop Out.” Next to the spinning turntable was an empty paper 45 sleeve, with a photo of a smiling girl with her blonde hair in a humongous beehive.

“Is this the girl singing?” Mykel asked looking at the photo.

“Yes, it is. She’s new, her name is Dolly Parker or Dolly Parsons…,” Lovable Lance then looked at the name at the bottom of the photo. “Dolly Parton.”

“She’s got really big hair,” Mykel observed.

“I’ve seen another photo of her. Her hair isn’t the only thing she’s got that is big,” Lovable Lance said with a sly smile, as he removed the Bob Dylan 45 from the turn table and replaced it with a red and white, Kapp promo label, 45 single.”
